A video is making rounds on social media site X(Twitter) claiming that Shehbaz Sharif took oath as the Pak’s PM with Gayatri Mantra. Sharing this video on X(Twitter), a user by the name of Dilip Kumar Singh wrote: “Shahbaz Sharif took oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan with Gayatri Mantra.
Another user named Sunil Tak also shared this video on X and claimed: “Shehbaz Sharif takes oath as Prime Minister of Pakistan with Gayatri Mantra If Modi is there then it is possible”
Fact-Check
For the investigation, the DFRAC team converted this viral video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. During this process, we found a video on YouTube that was uploaded on 17 March 2017. The video’s description reads: “Holi celebration in Pakistan with Nawaz Sharif and Gayatri mantra sing by Narodha Malini”
In addition, the team conducted a keyword search on Google in this context and found a media report from 2017 by the newspaper outlet Amar Ujala, which featured the viral video. In this report, Amar Ujala stated: “Gayatri Mantra was chanted in Pakistan. The occasion was Holi celebrations, where singer Naroda Malini started the program with Gayatri Mantra in her melodious voice. PM Nawaz Sharif was also present there on this occasion. This is the first time that Holi celebrations have been organized publicly under the chairmanship of PM Nawaz”
In addition, the team conducted a keyword search on Google in this context and found a media report from 2017 by the newspaper outlet Amar Ujala, which featured the viral video. Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s Fact-check that the viral video claiming Shehbaz Sharif took oath as Pak’s PM with Gayatri Mantra is misleading as the video depicts the Holi celebration organized in the year 2017, at that time Nawaz Sharif was the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Hence, the claim of users is false.
