During this time, many false claims are spreading on social media regarding the World Cup. We came across one such claim where a picture of Maxwell is going viral. In the picture, he is seen touching Sachin Tendulkar’s feet.
The claim made by a user
A verified user named Vivek Pandey on the X platform shared a picture and wrote: “Our India is great After Maxwell ji led his team to victory by scoring a double century, he touched the feet of master blaster India’s run machine, great player Bharat Ratna Shri Sachin Tendulkar ji” (Translated in English)
The claim made by other users
Many other social media users also shared the same picture while making similar claims.
Fact Check
DFRAC team reverse-searched the image on Google. We found a similar image uploaded on gettyimage website which was clicked by Robert Cianflone. In the photo, Sachin Tendulkar can be seen shaking hands with an Afghanistan player before Afghanistan’s training session at Wankhede stadium.
Moreover, we found a media report by The Times of India where they stated,” Sachin Tendulkar gives ‘pep talk’ to Afghanistan team” and the same image was uploaded on their website.
On comparing the two images we found some similarities . In both the images, the posture of Sachin Tendulkar is same and the shaking of hands is abruptly edited by putting Maxwell’s image.

Therefore, it is clear from the DFRAC’s fact-check that the claim made by the user is misleading as this picture of Sachin Tendulkar has been edited. It is from his visit to Afghanistan’s training session.
