A video is going viral on social media platforms showing an old man being brutally thrashed by locals in broad daylight. Users on social media are fiercely sharing this video and claiming that Muslims beat the man for reciting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” in Karnavati, Gujarat. Moreover, they are trying to give a communal angle to this incident.

Claim made by the users

Sharing this video on X (Twitter), a user named Rohan Malhotra wrote: “Near Lal Darwaza, Bhadrakali temple, a monk was just shouting slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai. Look at the hatred towards Bharat Mata Ki Jai, the Muslims beat the Sadhu so much that he had to be admitted to the hospital. Karnavati (Ahmedabad) Gujarat”.

The video was posted in 2019  

We found this video on X(Twitter) ‘s account named sameerkhan_1212. He posted this video in 2019 and claimed that the viral video captured the incident that took place in Bhilwara district in Rajasthan in the year 2019.

Video shared by BJP National Secretary as well

Following this, the video was also discovered on the Facebook account of BJP National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa with the caption: “An elderly man was brutally assaulted in Azad Chowk Market, Bhilwara, Rajasthan!

It is a very bad mentality of those people who start fighting with elderly and unarmed people over small matters. (English Translation)

He also urged Rajasthan Police to take Immediate action in this case.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the viral video belongs to Bhilwara, Rajasthan, not Karnavati Gujarat, Moreover, It shows the incident that took place 4 years ago.
