Fact Check: Did Taliban say “If Israel’s neighbor Muslim country give us a way then we will win Jerusalem”

A big statement quoting Taliban is going viral on social media. In which it is being claimed that Taliban has announced help in the war between Israel and Hamas and said that if its neighboring Muslim country gives it a way to reach Palestine, then it will conquer Jerusalem.

What did Indian media say?

This news was covered by many country’s media houses including India. While covering the news, Zee News said,”Taliban has entered between the Israel Hamas war. Taliban has said to Iraq, Iran and Jordan to give a way to reach Israel.”

Whereas One India wrote in its report that the Foreign Office of Taliban has contacted the government of Middle Eastern countries and requested to give them safe passage. Taliban has said that they want to help Hamas.

What did foreign media say?

Apart from this many foreign media houses have also covered this news. Belarusian News Agency NEXTA has tweeted” Russia’s allies, the Taliban terrorist organization supported Hamas: “If the Muslim countries neighboring Israel grant us the right of passage, we will conquer Jerusalem.”

Whereas, UK newspaper, Xpress wrote ,” Taliban vows to conquer if Iraq, Iran and Jordan allow passage to Israel.”

Where did the claim originate from?

The claim was started by a verified account on (Twitter)named Taliban Public Relations Department, Commentary’s tweet in which he wrote. “This evening, the foreign office contacted his counterparts in #Iran, Iraq and Jordan, asking for permission for our men to cross their sovereign territory on their way to the holy land. We are preparing and hoping for the good news from our neighbours”.

Another tweet from this account said that “#Taliban has reached a deal with #Iran that is satisfactory. Iraq did not respond, and Jordan barred the Taliban from entering their country. The Arab states acts as a shield for #Israel’s tyranny. They are incapable of fighting for a #FreePalestine and won’t allow others”.

Fact Check

To investigate about the viral video, firstly DFRAC team searched the X (twitter) account named Taliban Public Relations Department, Commentary and found out that Taliban government does not have an official account in Afghanistan. This is a fake account.

Afterwards, we searched an official account of Ministry of Foreign Affairs-Afghanistan. During this we found tweets about Taliban and Hamas conflict on  the official account of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan in which it says that they are keeping an eye on recent event that happen in Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Gaza Strip and whatever is happening they consider it to be a result of Israeli aggression and continous violations of the sancity of the Al- Aqsa Mosque and the holy places of Muslims and recognizes the right  of the Palestinian people to defend their freedom and independence of their country and their resistance against the occupation of their lands and holy places.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan legitimate establishment of an independent State of the Palestinian people in the historic land of Palestine, declares his support for  the historical and legal rights and Islamic countries, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the international community and especially supports it. Islamic countries, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the international community Particularly requests to stop violence against innocent people and provide solution about Palestian issues.This is the given claim.

We also saw some other tweets but didn’t found any other statement in which Taliban asked neighbouring Muslim countries Iran, Iraq and Jordan to help joining the Israel and Hamas war.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC Fact Check that Taliban asking a way from Iran, Iraq and Jordan  to join Israel – Hamas war is fake.
