After the successful landing of Chandrayaan 3, a video is going viral on social media platforms. Users on social media are fiercely sharing this video and claiming that these are the first visuals from the moon‘s surface sent by Chandrayaan 3.
India recently created history when Chandrayaan-3’s lander Vikram touched down on the lunar surface, making India the first to land on the uncharted south pole of Earth’s nearest celestial neighbor.
A user by the name of Bilal Hayat posted a video on Twitter and wrote: “Chandrayaan-3 sent the first moon video after landing”
Fact-Check
To verify the authenticity of the above viral video, the DFRAC team watched it minutely and found some texts appearing in the above viral video.
Following this, the team converted the above viral video into some key frames and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, the team discovered a video uploaded on a YouTube Channel named Tanvi Technical Space, stating: “NASA’s Mars Rover Curiosity sent real panorama images in 4k resolutions from Mars Planet during Mars 2023 missions” in its bio.
The video on the YouTube channel was quite similar to the above viral video. Moreover, the video was uploaded five months ago.
ISRO has released several videos of its third moon mission ‘Chandrayaan 3’ but not even a single video resembles the above viral video.
Conclusion
DFRAC’ s Fact-Check proves that the viral video claiming the first visuals of the Moon‘s surface sent by Chandrayaan3 is misleading. The viral video was captured by NASA’s Scientist Curiosity Rover during his Mars mission in 2023. Therefore, the claim of social media users is false.
