Fact-Check
To verify the claims made in the above viral video, the Dfrac team visited the official website and social media handles of News 18. We found that no such was published by the news channel.
In addition to that, the team also went through the social media handles of Cricketer Rohit Sharma. We didn’t find any post regarding the above viral claim.
Subsequently, the team converted the viral video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. We discovered a video on the YouTube channel of a Standup Comedian named Vikram Sathaye with the title: “Rohit Sharma & Ajinkya Rahane | What The Duck | With Vikram Sathaye”.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=hKyWp_UwV94
The video was an interview of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane discussing their cricketing journey together since they were 19 years old. The cricketers didn’t mention anything related to cash prizes or money in their interview. Rohit Sharma’s part in the viral video was similar to the video uploaded on Vikram Sathaye’s YouTube Channel at 10 minutes and 47 seconds. It indicates that the above viral video is edited for promotional purposes only.
Conclusion
Dfrac’s Fact-Check proves that the above viral video claiming Rohit Sharma has won a cash prize is misleading. The viral video has been edited for promotional purposes only. Therefore, the claim of social media users is false.
