Fact Check:
To investigate the viral video, DFRAC team did a keyword search and found a report by Bangalore Mirror, dated march 2018, which identified the man in the video as Channamayigowda, a 55-year-old farmer from Karnataka’s Mysuru. At the time, he told reporters, “I was told to perform a dance, which I did. This video had no intent to bring a bad name to the CM.” Ironically, Siddaramaiah was the chief minister of Karnataka at that time too.
Further, we found that the same video went viral in the year 2018.Even then, the social media users were claiming the man as Siddaramaiah.
Conclusion:
Through our investigation it is clear that the video is not of Siddaramaiah dancing, but of a lookalike named Channamayigowda. Hence, the claim of social media users is misleading.
