Did the BJP government is demolishing only Muslim houses in Haldwani? Read- Fact Check 

Videos and pictures of the protest in Haldwani, Uttarakhand going viral on social media. In fact, the High Court has ordered to vacate of many settlements in Haldwani by claiming that they belong to railway land. Since then, the locals have been protesting. Meanwhile, international rhetoric has started on this matter. Many people from Gulf countries have posted on this matter. 

A verified user on Twitter is د.عـبدالله العـمـادي (@Abdulla_Alamadi). He captioned: “ Once again, BJP returns and addresses Muslims with bulldozer language, in violation of human rights, as the Supreme Court ordered the demolition of more than 4,000 homes, where Muslims live and left them homeless, claiming that they encroached on a land belonging to the Indian Railways!”

Fact Check:

To know the reality of the viral claim, the DFRAC team searched some keywords on Google. We found some media reports. According to the reports of Navbharat Times- “Encroachment is being removed by the Railways on the order of the High Court in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Local people are protesting about this. 4365 houses built on 78 acres of railway land are to be demolished.

At the same time, a report of “Jansatta” was found in this context. Details are given in this report. According to local sources, about 20 mosques and nine temples are under encroachment.

At the same time, a report by Dainik Jagran says that – “Five temples including Gopal Temple, Shiv Temple are also built on railway land. There are also 20 mosques. People of many communities live in Indiranagar and Gafurbasti. However, most of the population belongs to a particular community. ”

Conclusion:

DFRAC’s fact check reveals many facts. First, the notice to the local people has been given on the orders of the High Court and not the Supreme Court. Secondly, where encroachments are being removed, there are both temples and mosques and people of all communities live here. Thirdly, this decision is not the decision of the state government, but of the High Court. Therefore, the claim of social media users is wrong.
