A piece of news is doing rounds on the internet that an ex-serviceman was abducted and got the message ‘Sar Tan se Juda’ along with the PFI flag on WhatsApp. An Indian magazine Panchjanya shared this story with the heading, “दिल्ली से पूर्व सैनिक लापता, मोबाइल पर आया पीएफआई का झंडा और ‘सर तन से जुदा’ का मैसेज”

Fact Check

On keyword search, the DFRAC team found a report from the New Indian Express. According to the report, the ex-serviceman himself plotted the story of his kidnap. The police had earlier registered an FIR under Section 365 (kidnapping or abducting) of the IPC on the complaint of ex-serviceman Rajendra Prasad’s family members, however, it has now been revealed that Prasad was not kidnapped and he had willingly left his home.

Furthermore, Journalist Nigar Parveen shared the whole story in the form of a thread on her official Twitter handle. She mentioned, “Rajendra Prasad, an ex-serviceman left home in Delhi. Troubled by debt and home, made himself disappear, and sent a picture of PFI along with the ‘Sar Tan se Juda’ message to family members Godi media, which is doing the business of hatred, spread hatred on it. Police exposed the matter it was found that he himself had sent the threat.”

Conclusion

Therefore, from this DFRAC fact check it is clear that there is the ex-serviceman was not kidnapped by PFI. The whole incident was plotted by himself only. Hence, the claim of social media users and media houses is wrong.
