A bygone video of Pakistan’s victory celebration against India in Srinagar goes viral! Read- Fact check

A video is getting viral on social media sites, in which some people can be seen with fireworks on the streets. It was claimed that this video is from the celebration of Pakistan’s triumph against India in Srinagar.

Sharing the video on Twitter, Turkish Urdu wrote- the celebration of Pakistan’s victory in Occupied Kashmir. Kashmiri boys took to the streets in various areas, including Srinagar, to celebrate India’s defeat in the Asia Cup and expressed happiness over Pakistan’s victory. Fact check:

To analyze the originality of the viral claim, the DFRAC team converted the video into a keyframe. Afterward, the team reverse-searched the keyframe. We found one such video on Twitter. Which was posted a year ago on 24 October 2021.

Meanwhile, the team also found a tweet from Srinagar Police. The tweet denied the viral video and caption that- “many fake/old videos are being shared by many handles including verified ones for sensationalism. If you live in Srinagar, you will know how peaceful and the calm post-match atmosphere is today. It is again requested to all not circulate such fake and old videos.”

Conclusion:

Therefore, it is clear from the verification of DFRAC that the viral video is misleading. Because this video is not from AsiaCup2022 but from ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021/22.
