Did Muslim Maulvi try to rape Hindu woman in the name of treatment? – Fact Check

A Video is going viral on social media platforms with the claim that a maulvi was caught red-handed while he was trying to rape a drugged Hindu Woman who came there for treatment.

Journalist Anchal Yadav shared the video with the caption, “See this, the women who go to the mosques and mosques for treatment, they are treated like this by people of God…” {English Translation}

Similarly, this video was shared by many other users.

Fact Check

Using InVID tool we divided the video in different keyframes and applied google image search on them. DFRAC team found this media on various handles on Facebook and Twitter. On one of the Facebook pages, we found a longer version of the same video. At the end of this 11:52 minutes video, we found a disclaimer. In the disclaimer, it was mentioned that “everything in this video is imaginary.”

Conclusion

From this factcheck, it is clear that this video is not real. But, social media users including verified handles of journalists like Anchal Yadav have shared this video misleadingly giving it a communal angle.
