A verified user named Shubhankar Mishra is on social media. This user posted a video. In this video, hundreds of dead animals can be seen in a large field. Posting this video, Shubhankar Mishra claimed that the deserts of Rajasthan have become a land of corpses.

Shubhankar Mishra tweeted- “Rajasthan desert turned into a land of corpses, Lumpi virus killed about 57,000 cows. Rajasthan has the highest number of 37 thousand deaths. Viruses spread in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. So far more than 11 lakh animals have been infected by it. Surprisingly there is no noise on this news.

At the same time, a user named Jitesh Jethanandani claimed that more than 60 thousand cows have died due to the lumpy virus in Rajasthan. He wrote- “Due to #Lumpy #virus, more than 60 thousand #cows have died in #Rajasthan so far. There are heaps of dead bodies. Question to those seeking votes in the name of a cow?? Question to those creating ruckus in the name of a cow? Question from the party whose election symbol was once a cow calf?

Fact Check:

To fact-check the video going viral, we reversed some of the frames of the video. We found this video on a YouTube channel called Breaking News Updates. This video has been described as the dumping yard of Jobir of Bikaner.

You tube

On the other hand, when we checked it on social media with reference to Bikaner, we got a clarification from the official Twitter handle of the DM of Bikaner. It reads- “The news published in Dainik Bhaskar today is misleading. Important facts have been hidden in this. This area of Jobir has been a Vulture Conservation Area for the last 50 years. The contract for dumping dead animals here is given by the Municipal Corporation for years. Dead animals from lumpy skin disease are being disposed of as per rules.

जोड़बीड़ का यह क्षेत्र पिछले 50 वर्षों से गिद्ध संरक्षण क्षेत्र है।

Rajasthan DIPR Fact Check has also given many facts on this matter. He told that this is the Manabid Vulture Conservation Area. Here for the last 50 years, the dead animals have been thrown in the open by the corporation contractor. According to the Municipal Commissioner, the dead animals from Lumpi are being buried in Sujandesar, Karmisar, and Nal areas. Whereas non-lumpy dead animals are being put in the joint.
