A copy of an order allegedly issued by the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is being widely shared on social media. Along with this order, it is being claimed that petrol has become costlier by ₹10 and diesel by ₹12.50. Users are also alleging that while the second phase of voting is underway in West Bengal, the government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel.
Sharing this order, TMC leader Nilanjan Das wrote a caption : Voting is still going on, and the shameless and anti-people Narendra Modi government has brazenly increased the price of petrol by ₹10 and diesel by ₹12.50.

Additionally, while sharing a copy of the viral order, another user wrote, “By increasing the price of petrol by ₹10 and high-speed diesel by ₹12.50, Modi ji has finally given people the long-awaited golden opportunity to contribute to nation-building.”
Fact Check:
The DFRAC team’s investigation found that the letter going viral on social media, along with the claim being made, is fake. No increase in petrol and diesel prices has been announced by the government. According to PIB, the government has not issued any such order, and the viral letter is fabricated.
PIB Hindi also shared a post stating: “An order is going viral on social media claiming that petrol and diesel prices have been increased by ₹10 and ₹12.50 respectively, and that this order was issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. This order is fake. The Government of India has not issued any such order. Always verify such news only through official government sources.” (English Translation)
