The conflict between Iran and the United States–Israel alliance has been ongoing since February 28, 2026. American military bases in the Middle East have reportedly been targeted by Iran. Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on social media claiming that Iran has attacked the “Haidriya” US base in Qatar. In this video, a military base can be seen under a sudden missile attack.
A user, while sharing the video, claimed:“ Haidriya- American base, Qatar: Close -up footage captures the impact of the strike.”
In addition, several other users have also shared this video, claiming it shows an attack on the Haidriya US base, which can be seen here, here, and here
Fact Check:
The DFRAC team’s investigation found that the viral claim is fake, as no American base named “Haidriya” exists in Qatar. Additionally, the viral video is AI-generated. Our team first gathered information regarding U.S. military bases in Qatar. We found an article titled “U.S. Security Cooperation With Qatar“ on the U.S. Department of State website, which mentions the Al-Udeid Air base in Qatar but contains no reference to any “Haidriya” base. According to the website: “Since 2003, Qatar has contributed over $8 billion to develop the Al-Udeid Air Base for U.S. use. The base houses the headquarters for U.S. Central Command Forward, U.S. Air Force Central Command Forward, and U.S. Special Operations Command Central Forward; it also hosts the Combined Joint Interagency Task Force – Syria, U.S. Central Command’s Combined Air Operations Center, and the U.S. Air Force’s 379th Air Expeditionary Wing.” These contributions are critical to supporting U.S. military operations throughout the region.

In our further investigation, we found a press release on the U.S. Department of War website. This press release also mentions “Al-Udeid” as the American military base in Qatar. Similarly, a press release dated January 13, 2026, on the official U.S. Central Command website also refers to the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. We did not find any information regarding a “Haidriya” base on any of these official government websites.

During this investigation, we found a detailed note on the US-Qatar Business Council website marking 50 years of partnership between the US and Qatar in 2022. It mentions that the Al-Udeid US base is located in Qatar; however, despite being 72-pages long, it does not mention any “Haidriya” base.
We also reviewed reports from Reuters and Al Jazeera regarding American bases in the Middle East. These reports mention the Al-Udeid Air Base, but make no reference to any “Haidriya” base.

Meanwhile, our team analyzed the viral video using AI-detection tools like Hive Moderation and DeepFake-o-meter (University at Buffalo). The analysis concluded that the viral video is AI-generated.

To further verify, our team contacted AI expert Mayank Sharma for more information about the video. According to him, the video shows several signs of AI-generated or morphed content. Specifically, the lighting and shadows in the explosion visuals appear unnatural and inconsistent with real camera footage. Additionally, issues such as lack of detail in background elements, slight blurring around object edges, and pixel distortion during motion are visible—common indicators of AI-generated content.
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact-check clearly establishes that the viral video circulating on social media is AI-generated. Furthermore, there is no American military base named “Haidriya” in Qatar. Therefore, the users’ claim is false and misleading.
