DFRAC conducted an engaging workshop at Galgotias University for the Mass Communication students of 3rd and 5th year on Fact-Checking, Cyber Security, and AI Misinformation. The session, led by Aayushi Rana (Senior Research Analyst, DFRAC), aimed to build critical awareness about misinformation, information warfare, and the ethical use of emerging technologies.
The workshop began with an introduction to the fundamentals of fact-checking and the importance of verifying information before sharing. Students learned about digital verification practices and the growing challenges of cyber fraud and AI-generated misinformation.

Interactive activities and live fact-checking exercises helped students understand how misinformation spreads and how to detect cross-border and coordinated information campaigns. Participants analyzed real-world examples and practiced using verification tools to identify manipulated media and false claims.
The session concluded with an open Q&A segment, where students shared insightful questions and reflections on how media literacy can combat disinformation in their professional and personal spaces. The enthusiastic participation reflected their curiosity and commitment to responsible digital communication.
Outcome:
The workshop successfully enhanced students’ understanding of media verification, cyber safety, and AI ethics, equipping them with practical skills to navigate and counter misinformation.
