Fact Check

The DFRAC team investigated the viral claim. Using Google search with relevant keywords, we did not find any information published in English or Hindi media mentioning Rahul Gandhi’s name as a bank guarantor for Nirav Modi. Recent news only shows that Nirav Modi’s bail plea was rejected by a UK court.

To investigate further, the team checked the website of the UK High Court, King’s Bench Division, for references to Nirav Modi between 1 January 2019 and 26 September 2025.

We found two orders related to Nirav Modi:

  1. Order dated 25 February 2021
  2. Order dated 9 November 2022

In both of these orders, there is no mention of Rahul Gandhi’s name as a bank guarantor for Nirav Modi.

The two orders can be seen here.

Conclusion

The DFRAC fact-check makes it clear that the claim being circulated on social media, that the UK court said Rahul Gandhi is among Nirav Modi’s bank guarantors, is false.

The UK court has never made such a statement. Therefore, the social media claim is fake.
