A claim is being shared online that A tragedy has occurred in Kabul where the Indian Embassy was attacked and Indian officials were martyred in service to the nation.

A user shared the claim stating, “Kabul Attack on Indian Embassy — A Cowardly Act! Brave Indians martyred on foreign soil. Terror tried to shake us, but our resolve stands stronger. India won’t forget. India won’t forgive.”

Another user also shared the same claim.

Fact Check

Upon investigation, we found the claim to be fake. There has been no recent attack on the Indian Embassy in Kabul. Neither any credible media outlet nor the official social media handles of the Indian Embassy have reported such an incident.

Moreover, the images used to support the claim are misleading:

1. The first photo is from a 2017 truck bombing that struck Kabul’s diplomatic quarter.

2. The second image, sourced from Shutterstock and taken by Jalil Rezayee, shows a fireman watching smoke rise from the Indian Consulate in Herat on 23 May 2014, after a gun battle with Taliban attackers. In that incident, all five gunmen were neutralized by security forces.
