Claim
After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India has taken several actions against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Meanwhile, on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Pakistani users are spreading false claims. They are alleging that Yemen’s Houthi rebels have openly supported Pakistan and have threatened India, even claiming that they would destroy the warship INS Vikrant.
A post from an X handle named ‘Pakistan military’ made a claim. The handle wrote, “Yemen’s Houthis have threatened to destroy India’s INS Vikrant aircraft carrier, expressing full support for Pakistan.”

The same claim was made by a user named Partizan, with a caption in the Turkish language.
A similar claim was made by a user named Partizan, with a caption in the Turkish language. A translate version of it says, “Ansarullah threatened to strike India’s INS Vikrant aircraft carrier.”

Fact Check
To investigate the claim, the DFRAC team conducted a keyword search. But our team couldn’t find any such report published by a credible media organization.

After that, our team searched Google using the Hindi keywords ‘हूती विद्रोहियों ने भारत को धमकी दी’ (Houthi rebels threatened India). However, we did not find any news published in Hindi regarding this.

Then, with the help of Google Translate, our team translated the English keywords into Arabic and searched on Google, but we did not find any news published by any Arabic-language media outlet.

Lastly, the DFRAC team searched on Google in English, Hindi, and Arabic regarding the claim made about the Houthi rebels, but we did not find any latest news. All searches led to older news reports or articles which are not related to the relevant topic. Based on this, we can conclude that no threat has been issued to India by the Houthi rebels, because if such a threat had been made, it would certainly have been covered by media organizations in at least one of the English, Hindi, or Arabic languages.
Conclusion
Therefore, the fact check by DFRAC clearly shows that Pakistani social media users are spreading fake news in the name of the Houthi rebels. We did not find any news published by media outlets in English, Hindi, or Arabic regarding the Houthi rebels threatening India. Therefore, the claim made by Pakistani users is fake.
