Were Indian Army casualties reported in Poonch? Here’s the Reality
The state-turned-UT has been witnessing an uptick in terror incidents over the past few days, following the detection of suspicious movements in vulnerable areas. However, the Indian Army’s efforts in combating and eliminating terrorists through search and cordon operations have ensured the safety of the nation.
Amid this, a claim has gained traction online alleging that the militants have killed several Army personnel during a retaliatory gunfight in Poonch.
Sharing this claim, a Pakistan-based user wrote: “One Indian Army Captain, Three Indian Army soldiers have been liquidated in Action, One Indian Army post destroyed. Indian military casualties may increase….”

Fact-Check
The DFRAC team investigated this claim and found it to be manipulated.
Conducting a keyword search on Google concerning the above viral claim, we came to know that not only Indian Army Personnel but 4-5 infiltrators have been killed in retaliatory firing after the Pakistan Army intruded into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday, April 1, violating the ceasefire agreement between the two nations.
Latest reports from India Today, Dainik Bhaskar English and India Blooms stated that the Army killed 4-5 infiltrators in retaliatory firing after the Pakistan Army intruded into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday for breaching the ceasefire agreement between the two nations, sources said. The Army said the infiltration attempt in the Krishna Ghati area of Poonch district was successfully foiled.

Notably, the reports did not mention the casualties from the side of the Indian Army or property damage. However, there is no official confirmation regarding casualties or the destruction of an Indian Army post in the Battal sector of Poonch.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-check that the above-shared claim alleging the casualties of the Indian Army is entirely false. In fact, the 4-5 infiltrators were killed in retaliatory firing after the Pakistan Army intruded into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, violating the ceasefire agreement between the two nations.
