A video is doing rounds on social media platform X(formerly Twitter), showing a man dragging a lady through her hair and beating her mercilessly while the lady can be seen pleading to spare her. No doubt, the video has sparked massive outrage on social media. Users sharing this video, have falsely linked it to the communal angle.

An X user named Urooja Fatima posted this video on X and claimed: “See, this is what happens when Muslim girls fall in love with a boy from another religion, deceive their family, and elope to get married. If you still don’t improve then this will be your future!!” (Translated from Hindi)

The DFRAC team investigated this video and found that it has been misleadingly linked to a communal spin. The individuals shown in the viral video belong to the same community indeed.

Reverse-searching the keyframes generated from the viral video, led us to some of the latest reports published by The Republic, ETV Bharat, and ANI.

The report by the Republic stated that a shocking video of a man brutally beating his wife surfaced on social media, sparking outrage across the region. The incident, which occurred in the Amb Gharota area of Jammu, showed the accused, identified as Sadaq Hussain, mercilessly striking his wife with a lathi. The disturbing footage led to an immediate investigation by local authorities. Police Station Amb Gharota registered an FIR under various sections. The accused has been arrested and is currently in police remand. Hussain, a resident of Pamali Jandyal, was taken into custody shortly after the video went viral.

Furthermore, reports from ETV Bharat and ANI mentioned that according to the police, Hussain’s daughter-in-law Nusrat Kousar, wife of Dil Mohd, a resident of Pamali Jandyal, filed a complaint at Amb Gharota Police Station Jammu.

Evidently, the culprit and victim hail from the same community. No communal angle has been found in the case of behind this viral video.
