To verify the claims about the viral video, DFRAC investigated by doing a reverse image search of a keyframe of the video. This search led us to a news report by Indian Express, dated 30 December 2022. The news report stated that Ajit Pawar demanded a special team to tackle ‘Kotya Gang’ who brandished machetes and assaulted people in the Manjari Budruk, Bhekrainagar, Ganga Nagar and Hadapsar areas.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Police, two youngsters who were allegedly involved in the incident were soon taken to the police station. While Karan Dalvi was arrested, the other was a minor whom the police apprehended. A case has been registered under sections pertaining to the Arms Act, besides other sections involving assault on citizens.

This incident is from outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra and not from Uttar Pradesh, as mentioned in the user’s post, about Yogi Ji’s police (Yogi Adityanath is the CM of Uttar Pradesh).

Conclusion

The fact check by DFRAC revealed that this incident has not occurred recently in Uttar Pradesh, but is an old incident from 2022, from Maharashtra’s Pune.
