Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found the claim to be false. We found multiple media reports regarding the viral claim. According to a report from Hindustan Times published on January 14, 2025: “The troops were on patrol duty when one of the soldiers accidentally stepped on a landmine near Khamba Fort in Nowshera sector. At least six army personnel sustained injuries on Tuesday following a landmine explosion in a forward village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.”

Furthermore, we also found a report from Tribune published on January 15, 2025, which states: “Six army personnel were injured on Tuesday in a landmine explosion in a forward village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The troops were on patrol duty when a soldier accidentally stepped on the landmine near Khanba Fort in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri at 10:45 am, triggering the explosion. The injured were rushed to the hospital, and their condition was reported to be stable.”

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact check that the claim made by users is false. In reality, six army personnel were injured in a landmine explosion, not an IED blast and their condition was reported to be stable.

Fact Check: No, Pakistan’s J-10C Did Not Shoot Down an Indian Rafale Over the LoC Dramatic silhouette of a Chinese-made J-10C fighter jet in mid-flight against a vivid sunset sky, with its afterburner trail illuminated in the twilight. The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC). The claim was later fact-checked and debunked by Indian authorities as misinformation.
