During the investigation, DFRAC found the claim to be false. According to the@IndiaToday report published on Dec 24, 2024 “Brigadier Amitabh Jha, who was serving as the Deputy Force Commander (DFC) of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights, has died due to medical reasons, the Indian Army said. Brigadier Jha was also the acting force commander of the mission at the time of his death
Furthermore, we also found a report from the@DeccanHerald report published on Dec 25, 2024, which stated the same facts.
Moreover, we found a tweet from the official@X handle of ‘@adgpi uploaded on Dec 24 , 2024 with the caption: #GeneralUpendraDwivedi#COAS and All Ranks of #IndianArmy express deepest condolences on the untimely demise of Brigadier Amitabh Jha due to medical reasons, who was deployed on a #UN Mission as Deputy Force Commander (DFC) in #UnitedNations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), Golan Heights. The officer was also the Acting Force Commander of the mission.
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact check that the claim made in the viral post is false. Brigadier Amitabh Jha’s demise was due to medical reasons.
