Kamran Khan November 22, 2024
DFRAC Fact Check

Maharashtra held single-phase assembly elections for all of its, 288 seats on Wednesday, November 20, with all eyes on the outcome.

The elections saw a battle between the prevailing BJP-led Mahayuti coalition, which has been fighting to remain in power, and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, seeking to overthrow the existing leadership. Amid this, on social media, a video of a massive crowd has gone viral. While sharing the video, users claim that Crowd throng at MVA (Maha vikas aghadi) rally at BKC (Bandra Kurla complex) in Mumbai and an Overview of the meeting recorded by drone.

Moreover, several users shared this video and made similar claims. The preview link can be seen here, & here

Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found that the claim was false. We found this video on the X handle of Chapra Zila with the caption: ‘Biharis created a great stir, Gandhi Maidan was full to see Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandana”

Furthermore, we also found a media report from Indian Express carrying the screengrab from the viral video published on Nov 18, 2024, stating, Pushpa 2 trailer sparks frenzy in Bihar, thousands turn up, fans climb Gandhi Maidan structure to catch Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna’s glimpse.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral video is from Pushpa 2 trailer that has led to gathering thousands of people in Bihar, not from the MVA (Maha vikas aghadi) rally at BKC (Bandra Kurla complex). Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.

Fact Check: No, Pakistan’s J-10C Did Not Shoot Down an Indian Rafale Over the LoC Dramatic silhouette of a Chinese-made J-10C fighter jet in mid-flight against a vivid sunset sky, with its afterburner trail illuminated in the twilight. The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC). The claim was later fact-checked and debunked by Indian authorities as misinformation.
