On social media, a news of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief’s Herzi Halevi has gone viral. While sharing the news users wrote “BREAKING Initial reports confirm the assassination of Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi”.

Fact Check
During the investigation, DFRAC found that the claim was false. We found multiple media reports regarding this news. According to the ‘the Jerusalem Post’ report published on 13 Oct, 2024 “False rumors of IDF Chief Halevi’s death in Hezbollah attack flood social media”.
Furthermore, we also found a report from ‘TimesNow’ report published on 14 Oct, 2024 stating “After Hezbollah’s drone strike on Israel on Sunday night near the Binyamina region, there have been many rumors on social media regarding the death of IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi. Fake claims about Halevi quickly spread following the event that resulted in over sixty injuries”.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral claim of the assassination of Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi is false. Therefore, the claim of social media users is Fake.
