Some pak-based handles took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and claimed that Indian forces martyred two Kashmiri youths during a cordon and search operation in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir
X account named Hello Pakistan posted an image on X and wrote: “Indian forces continue to violate human rights in J &K, killing two innocent Kashmiri youth in Kupwara. The bloodshed must end, and the world must hold India accountable for its brutal occupation”
Similarly, other Pak handles also shared this claim on X.
Fact-Check
The Dfrac team fact-checked the above viral claim, A google keyword search in this regard led us to a tweet by@ Srinagar-based Chinar Corps X handle (@ChinarcorpsIA ) dated Oct 5, 2024, stating that the security forces have eliminated two terrorists in the ongoing Operation GUGALDHAR.
Moreover, several media outlets such as IndiaToday, Indian Express and NDTV reported this news. As per reports, two militants were killed in J& K’s Kupwara as the Army and the police launched a joint operation in Gugaldhara forest, Kupwara to foil an infiltration bid. The army found war-like stores in the encounter zone, and the search was still underway.
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral claim of killing two Kashmiri youths by Indian Amry has been misleadingly shared on X. In reality, two terrorists have been eliminated during an ongoing Operation in Kupwara.
