Fact Check
During the investigation, DFRAC found that this video was from Moscow. We found a media report from ‘BBC’ published on 30 July, 2023 stating “Russia’s defence ministry has said three Ukrainian drones were downed on Sunday, with two crashing into offices. Footage of an explosion near a Moscow building on Sunday was captured by nearby witnesses, and on a car’s dashcam”.
Furthermore, we also found a similar video on the YouTube channel of ‘The Telegraph’ uploaded on 30 July, 2023 with the description ” Ukrainian drones have struck office buildings in Moscow, in another attack bringing the reality of war close to home for Russian people. Screams rang out in the neighbourhood as witnesses watched a drone fly into an office block before a huge explosion late on Saturday night”.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video was from Moscow and dates back to 2023 and not from attacks in Tel Aviv. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
