On social media, a video showing an elderly man touching a woman in burqa clad in an inappropriate manner on bridge is going viral. While sharing the video users claim that “this is a video from Bangladesh, look at the age of the old man And later when the girl slapped him twice, the old man said that I was in a hurry and it touched me by mistake”.
Account with username @RealBababanaras posted this video & wrote:’There were foul language in the video so it was muted. This is a video from Bangladesh. Look at the age of the old man Mohammad Baasim and later when the girl slapped him twice, Mohammad Baasim is saying that he was in a hurry so he got hit by mistake.
Fact-check
During the investigation, DFRAC found they were content creators from Bangladesh and made several such videos. We found a similar video on facebook page named ‘Azizul 2.0’ uploaded on 5 Sep.
This page also featured several other comedy acts with the same old man and woman seen in the viral videos.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is scripted and does not depict real events. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading
