Fact Check
On investigation, DFRAC found a tweet from DCP Trans Hindon Commissionerate Ghaziabad stating “On taking cognizance of the viral video, it was found that the video was old. At that time, a case was registered under relevant sections at Tilamod police station in connection with the above case and the accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody”.
Further, we also found media reports published in October 2021 regarding this video. According to Aaj Tak’s report published on Oct 17, 2021, the police took action after the video of making chapati (roti) by spitting on it went viral” (English Translation).
Moreover, Navbharat Times also uploaded this report on Oct 17, 2021, with the caption “The police arrested Tamizuddin, the accused of making chapati (roti) by spitting on it in Ghaziabad” (English Translation).
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s Fact check that the video is not recent but it is from October 2021. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
