An image showing a ship being attacked has recently surfaced on social media platform X (Twitter). The image has been shared by many users including a Pak-based handle claiming that a ship carrying explosives from India’s port to Israel has been destroyed by Houthis.

Iron clad account, a spreader of misinformation on X, shared this image  with the caption: “#BREAKING A ship carrying explosives from India’s Visakhapatnam port to Israel was destroyed by Houthis”

Following Ironclad, several users shared this image and made a similar claim.

Fact-Check

To investigate the above-shared image, the DFRAC team reverse-searched this image using google lens and found that the Image employed in the post has been taken from the recent video released by Yemeni military media on X stating: ” Yemeni Forces targeting the TRANSWORLD NAVIGATOR ship, belonging to one of companies violating the decision to ban entry of ships into the ports of occupied Palestine, on June 23, 2024 with a boat (Flood the Destroyer) – on June 23, 2024 AD, with a maneuver and information about the piloted boat Toofan the Destroyer, which was revealed for the first time”

Latest Reports from Ilkha and Almanar

According to a report by news agency Illkha, Footage released by the Yemeni Military Media shows the Yemeni Armed Forces targeting the ship “TRANSWORLD NAVIGATOR,” owned by a company violating the ban on entering ports in occupied Palestine.

The report further mentioned that The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces executed the targeting operation against the ship in the Red Sea, deploying an uncrewed surface boat which successfully hit the vessel. The military spokesman, General Yahya Sarea, confirmed the operation, highlighting the effectiveness of the “Tufan Al-Mudammer” in the assault”.

Additionally, report from media outlet Almanar asserted similar facts regarding the recent footage.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that Image showing a ship being attacked has been misleadingly shared on X. Originally, image was taken from recent footage showing Yemeni forces targeting Transworld Navigator ship.
