Women in Iran protested against the Hijab by going naked? Find the reality

A video is being shared on the social media platform, X where women can be seen naked on the streets.

The users sharing the video also wrote descriptive captions saying: “In September 2022, over fifty thousand Muslim girls made a world record by going naked to express a strong opposition against the Burqa and Hijab. When will this protest take place in India?”

A user mentioned the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) demanding an immediate ban on hijab.

Fact Check

Some key frames of the viral video were reverse-checked. DFRAC found multiple reports published by Media houses, Thesun, and Politica Medios. The reports revealed that these images were taken during the protests in Chile, in November 2019. The women participated in a rally by going bare-skinned to protest against the ongoing violence, against women on the occasion of International day.

According to a BBC Hindi report, the female singer Mon Laferete, went topless while taking the Best Alternative Album award at the Latin Grammy Award to showcase support for the anti-government protests.

According to the report, while walking on the red carpet, Mon ceased her body movements at one point. She removed her black jacket and disclosed a message written on her chest. “In Chile, they rape, torture and kill.’ People in Chile have been protesting against the government’s neglect and Economic inequality for over a month”.

It has now become clear that the viral video is not related to the protests against the Hijab in Iran 2022.
