On social media, a video of Kanhaiya Kumar, Lok Sabha Candidate from North East Delhi under the INDIA alliance is going viral. In this video, Kanhaiya kumar can be heard saying, “Our History is linked here, we have not come from Arabia. We grew up here, And the specialty of Islam and the old religions, in which there was untouchability, Because of that people have abandoned and adopted Islam. Islam talks about peace, it talks about equality. There are no high and low people in the mosque. This is the reason I adopted Islam and I am not leaving Islam We will save ourselves, and while saving our community, we will also save this country. Allah has lots of Power, May Allah Protect Us.
While Sharing the video, the user also Wrote “ Kanhaiya became Abdul, I have become a Muslim. Everyone should become Muslim. No one is more powerful than Allah. There is no untouchability in Islam. What would you say to Kanhaiya Kumar in words?”
Fact Check:
DFRAC team searched the viral video, and we found this video was uploaded on YouTube by ‘One Channel’ on August 27, 2018.
In a program organized in Nanded, Maharashtra Kanhaiya kumar. He was answering the questions of intellectuals from the Muslim community.
In this video, it can be seen at 11:50 min. that he was not discussing Islam as his faith but was interpreting the words of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad that our history is linked here. We did not all come here from Arabia.
DFRAC team found that three parts of the video (from 11:50 to 12:25, 16:02 to 16:07, and 15:12 to 15:16) were combined and went viral.
On listening to the video again it came to light that at 15:03 minutes Kanhaiya kumar said “ if anyone comes to you as the leader of the community and says that we will save the religion, then you should give him an equal answer. Tell them that our Allah has great power. We need someone who can talk about education, employment, and health facilities for us. Could talk about saving our industry. We need such representatives. Allah will protect us.”
In the same section where Kanhaiya kumar is quoting Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, two more video clips have been added at different times to show that he is speaking as a Muslim.

This video has nothing to do with Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Therefore, the claim by social media users that Kanhaiya Kumar has accepted Islam is Fake
