Fact-Check: Have the voting rights of Indian Muslims been taken away? Discover the Truth here

Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui May 1, 2024
Loksabha Election

Taking to X(Twitter), a user named @AbdulRa77981822 claims in the Arabic language that the voting rights of Muslims have been taken away in India. He has written in his post about why Indian Muslims do not learn from the Palestinian conflict and it can be replicated in the light of political geography, which is almost similar to the geopolitical geography of Palestine. Furthermore, he has also asserted that with the onset of Indian elections, Muslims were marginalized and excluded from the right to vote, just because of an election farce under a racist Hindu government.

Fact Check:

The claim made by @AbdulRa77981822 stating that voting rights of Muslims have been taken away in India is completeley fake. Moreover, a false map of India has also been shared from this account. According to the Constitution of India, under Article 326, all Indian citizens have been given the right to vote in the Lok Sabha and the State Legislative Assemblies.

Also, Article 325 of the Constitution guarantees that no citizen will be discriminated against based on religion, race, caste, sex, or any of them when included in the Parliament or the Legislative Assembly of the States. In the Indian constitution, it has been mentioned that there shall be a common election for all constituencies whether it will be a House of Parliament or House of the Legislature of State and no person shall, on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex or any of them, be ineligible for inclusion in any such roll or claim to be included in any special electoral roll for any such constituency.

Our team investigated @AbdulRa77981822  and we found that Dr. Rafiq Abdeslam (@RafikAbdessalem) Tunisia’s former Foreign Minister also followed his account.

Apart from this, we also found that Abdul Rahman has incited people towards Jihad by comparing Indian Muslims with Palestine in a post

Conclusion:

DFRAC’s fact-check proves that the the claim made by Abdul Rehman is fake because the right to vote of Muslims in India has not been taken away and it is clearly mentioned in the Indian Constitution that all citizens of India have the right to vote.

Fact Check: No, Pakistan’s J-10C Did Not Shoot Down an Indian Rafale Over the LoC Dramatic silhouette of a Chinese-made J-10C fighter jet in mid-flight against a vivid sunset sky, with its afterburner trail illuminated in the twilight. The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC).
