News is making rounds on social media site X(Twitter) stating that Iran has stopped all air traffic into and from Tehran tonight. The news has been shared by several users on X.
Sulaiman Ahmed, who has shared a plethora of misinformation in the past under the guise of an Investigative Journalist shared an image on X and wrote: ” BREAKING: IRAN HAS STOPPED ALL AIR TRAFFIC INTO AND FROM TEHRAN TONIGHT”
Furthermore, other users also shared this image on X and made similar claims.
Fact-Check
The DFRAC team investigated the viral news by searching some keywords on Google in the context of viral news. Meanwhile, we found a tweet by Flight Trader 24 revealing: “Some erroneous reports previously stated Iranian airspace was closed. Flights continue to operate to/from/through Iran. Per NOTAM, Tehran FIR is closed only to VFR traffic (aircraft operating at lower altitudes, generally without the direction of ATC) as of earlier in the day Wednesday through Saturday at 17:30 UTC”
