Amid the election season of 2024, a video of PM Modi visiting Kashmir is making rounds on X(Twitter) claiming that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kashmir in connection with his election campaign, Kashmiris responded with a complete shutter-down strike.
Sharing this video on X(Twitter), an account by the name of Public Pulse wrote: “When Narendra Modi visited Occupied Kashmir in connection with his election campaign, Kashmiris responded with a complete shutter down strike. Because they know that Modi has come to mislead them and there is no truth in his claims” (Translated to English)
Fact-Check
To investigate the claim made through the above viral video, the DFRAC team did a keyword search and found that no media reports have been published in this regard.
On the contrary, as per media reports from Indian Express, ANI, Mirror Now and Deccan Herald, PM Modi addressed a packed Bakshi Stadium on his first visit to Kashmir.
Furthermore, according to a recent media report published by The Economic Times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a slew of development projects worth more than Rs 6,400 crore and addressed a public meeting. This is Modi’s first visit to the Kashmir Valley after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the claim made with the shared video is completely fake as no such media reports have been found citing this fact. Instead of this fact, PM Modi addressed a jam packed Bakshi Stadium during his first visit to Kashmir.
