Claim: In a video viral on social media, Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is seen angrily snatching the mic from a woman, also pulling her pallu (sari pleat). BJP Haryana social media head Arun Yadav and other users are calling it Congress misrule and molestation of a woman in Janata Darbar.
Fact-Check:
The DFRAC team reverse searched some key-frames of the video and found that the video is from 2019. At that time, Siddaramaiah was not the Chief Minister. According to media reports, during a program in Varuna, Mysore, a woman complains about the absence of the MLA in the area. During this, Siddaramaiah snatched the mic during the debate, which also caused her dupatta to fall.
In fact, Yathindra Siddaramaiah (2018-2023), son of Siddaramaiah, was the MLA from Varuna, Mysore. Siddaramaiah later clarified on X that the incident happened when he tried to stop a Congress worker from taking too much time and it was an accident. He had said that- I have known that woman for over 15 years and she is like my sister.

Conclusion:
It is clear from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral video is not recent, but from 2019, when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was in power in Karnataka. At that time, Siddaramaiah was not the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Therefore, the claim of BJP leader Arun Yadav and other social media users is misleading.
