A screenshot of an X post (formerly Twitter) is going viral. It shows Fox News (@FoxNews) posting a statement, “Ivermectin’s hidden cost: New studies show that 68% of those who used ivermectin to treat or prevent Covid are suffering long-term bowel and urinary incontinence” without a link source or a date to locate the post in.
Another user was also found posting the similar claim.
Fact Check
Upon investigating, however, via reverse image search and checking Fox News’ X, DFRAC finds the screenshot to be fake and edited. It was fabricated as satire for entertainment on Reddit before it became viral on other social media platforms.
We found an article by AP news dated May 19, 2022. It claimed that the viral screenshot of Fox news was a fabriated one.
Further, Fox News released an article on fake news and how it spreads like wild fire on September 9, 2021. While citing their recent example from the time which was Ivermectin’s usage during Covid season
Additionally, we found an article by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In the article they talked about the Ivermectin in detail and mentioned facts about the usage of the drug. Throughout the article there is no mention about the bowel and urinary problems.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is confirmed by DFRAC that the viral screenshot claiming that the usage of Ivermectin causes long-term bowel and urinary incontinence is a fake news.
