Fake claim of "Black Day" on Republic Day in Kashmir shared by Pak users

India celebrated its 75th Republic Day on 26 January 2024 with a Flag hoisting ceremony in New Delhi. French President, Emanuel Macron was invited as the Chief Guest this year. Linking to this, a claim was shared by Pakistani users on the Internet about Republic Day Celebrations in Kashmir.

Claim

The Pakistani users were found to claim that “Black Day” was celebrated in Kashmir on Republic Day. Besides this, a complete shutdown in the city was also claimed.

Fact Check

We crosschecked the claim by checking the official account LG of Jammu & Kashmir. On the official account, we found multiple pictures of the celebration of the 75TH Republic Day.

The main function was held at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium. The advisor to Lieutenant Governor Rajesh Rai Bhatnagar was the chief guest and presided over the function. After the parade, artists from various parts of the union territory performed at the cultural event.

We also found articles published by Multiple media houses which further informed that the 75th Republic Day was celebrated. No black day or any shutdown was observed in Kashmir.

Furthermore, the local media house, The Rising Kashmir also reported, “The unfurling of the national flag was held amid impressive parades and mega cultural events at all venues of functions organized at district, sub-division, tehsil, and block levels across Kashmir Division”.

Conclusion

Thus, from the fact check it is clear that the claim made by Pakistan users is Fake. Neither “Black Day” nor any shutdown was observed in Kashmir.
