A screenshot from the Chinese media organization Global Times (@globaltimesnews) is circulating widely on social media. The screenshot includes a photo of Chinese President Xi Jinping. and reports that Jinping has expressed gratitude to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for starting the India Nyaya Yatra from Manipur instead of Arunachal Pradesh, as a sign of respect for China.
A user named Jyothilakshmi Nambiar shared the screenshot, commenting that the omission of Arunachal Pradesh from the route confirms her belief that Congress is aligned with China. This was attributed to Gaurav Pradhan.

Fact Check
The viral tweet screenshot is attributed to Global Times News, with a visible date around January 14, 2024. Subsequently, the DFRAC team examined Global Times’ X-handle and its archive for that date but found no corresponding tweet.
The viral screenshot includes Chinese text alongside Jinping’s image, translated into Hindi via Google Translate as – “You possess the right to vote.”
Apart from this, we found that Jinping’s video is from 2018, which was uploaded by Chinese media organization #CCTV. According to the information given, on the morning of March 7, Xi Jinping came to Beijing in the Guangdong delegation to participate in the review of the first session of the 13th National People’s Congress.
Upon further investigation, we found that the viral screenshot of Global Times shows a photo of a man on Jinping’s right hand. Whereas in the original video, it can be seen that Jinping has a cup of tea near his hand.
Apart from this, we searched some keywords on Google regarding Jinping thanking Rahul Gandhi for starting the Bharat Nyaya Yatra from Manipur. We did not find any news from any reliable media organization.
Conclusion
DFRAC’s fact check clearly shows that the screenshot of Global Times has been edited. The claim of social media users of Chinese President Jinping thanking Rahul Gandhi is fake.
