Kashmir Media Service, a Pakistan news Digital Platform, shared the news. The news claimed that “Kashmir valley turned into fortress ahead of Article 370 Verdict today”
The article quotes,” To deal with the situation after the Supreme Court of India’s decision to abrogate Article 370. Strict restrictions have been imposed in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir today.”
Fact Check
We investigated the viral claim. On searching the relevant keywords, we landed on the media reports of the Times of India and The Print. Both the articles, quoting Press Trust of India, stated, “ Checkpoints have been set up in and around Srinagar city and random frisking and checking of vehicles and people are being done, the official said. However, there is no restriction on the movement of people anywhere in the valley, the official said”
Furthermore, We contacted We enquired from the Local Kashmir Digital Media Outlet Kashmir Connect (@KASHMICO), and they confirmed that there are no current restrictions in the Kashmir Valley.
Additionally, we verified the accompanying image with the viral claim. It was determined that the image was taken in 2019 by AP.
Furthermore, Kashmir Cyber Police has urged responsible social media use and warned against sharing rumors, fake news, hate speech, or offensive content.

Hence the viral claim is misleading. There is no restriction on the movement of people in the Kashmir Valley.
