Subsequently, News has been published by numerous media outlets such as Livemint, OpIndia, Free Press Journal, and ETV Bharat with similar claims.
Fact-Check
The DFRAC team fact-checked the above viral news and found a video on X(Twitter) handle of Aligarh Police carrying statement by a police official in which he mentioned that no FIR has been registered in this case nor any cognizance of any such complaint has been taken.
Upon Investigating further, we discovered an image of a letter by the activist Pandit Keshav Dev who sent this letter to the Police officials and requested them to take legal action against Marsh for placing the feet over the Coveted Trophy.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that no such official complaint has been filed against Marsh by the Police in Aligarh. Only a complaint letter had been sent to the Police officials regarding Marsh’s actions.
