A viral video of Rahul Gandhi’s speech is peddling where he can be seen commenting Lord Hanuman in Ramayana’s context in the parliament.
Social media users are sharing the video with the claim,” Hanuman ji did not burn Lanka – Rahul Gandhi. Which Ramayana has he read?” (Translated into English)
The video with the above claim is shared by many users, dated August 9 – Manish Singh (@MSinghBJP), Bipin Bihari Singh (@Bipin_Bi_Singh), Vikram Mittal (@VikramMittalBjp), Jai Bhagwan Goyal (@JaiBhagwanGoyal) and many more.
Fact Check:
To ascertain the veracity of the viral video, DFRAC investigated the video by putting it into the keyframe. During the investigation, we found the complete version of Rahul Gandhi’s speech delivered on August 9th in the Lok Sabha.
At the 30:17 minute mark, Rahul Gandhi can be heard saying, “It was not Hanuman who set Lanka on fire. It was the arrogance of Ravana that set Lanka on fire. Ram did not kill Ravana. It was Ravana’s arrogance that killed him.” (translated into English) Find the full video below for the entire speech.
The video of Rahul Gandhi’s speech has also been uploaded by the Congress on their YouTube channel on August 9th which can be viewed here.
The videos above shows that the viral video was cut down to 9 seconds in an attempt to mislead.
Conclusion:
From the fact check it becomes evident that an attempt is being made to mislead by cutting out a 9-second portion from Rahul Gandhi’s Full speech video given in Parliament.
Thus the claim made by social media users are misleading.
