WION, a renowned news agency, published a news, along with the image on July 29, 2023. According to this news, a massive rally was organized on Saturday in Imphal, Manipur’s state capital, by a prominent civil society group to demand action against “Kuki-Chin terrorists”. The rally aimed to address the ongoing ethnic clashes in the northeastern state and protect the territorial integrity of Manipur amid the Kuki-Zo-Chin tribes’ demands for a separate administration.
The incident was also covered by other media houses, NDTV and The New Indian Express.
It is evident from the check that the viral claim about the rally is misleading.
The news belong to the rally protest in Imphal, demanding action against “Kuki-Chin terrorists”, who they alleged are responsible for the ethnic clashes in the northeast state. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
