Fact-check:
To know the reality of the viral claim, the DFRAC team did a Google search with the help of some keywords. During this we got some media reports.
Dainik Bhaskar has published news on 20 June 2022 under the headline, “Catch the monkey and take away the reward of 21 thousand rupees: Announcement of the municipality chairman to catch the mad monkey in Rajgarh”.
According to the report, the administration has lost its sweat in catching a mad monkey in Rajgarh. When the monkey could not be caught, Municipal President Vinod Sahu announced a reward of Rs 21,000 to the person who caught the monkey. This monkey has attacked and injured 15 to 20 people in the last 15 days, people are in fear of monkeys.
On the other hand, the screenshot of the news shared by Swami Ramsarnacharya Pandey is from the website lalluram.com. DFRAC team found that it states that Rs 21,000 has been announced for the capture of a monkey in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh.
Conclusion:
It is clear from this fact-check by DFRAC that the viral claim is misleading, as the announcement of Rs 21,000 for catching the mad monkey was made not by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel but by the Rajgarh Municipality of Madhya Pradesh, hence Swami Ramsarnacharya Pandey’s claim is false.
