Fact Check:
To investigate this claim DFRAC team found that several media outlets had reported that the incident took place in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, where a few young men harassed a woman who was wearing a hijab on the street after suspecting that she was with a Hindu man. The police have taken three people into custody in connection with the incident.
At the same time, this news has also been covered by the Navbharat Times.
Significantly, this video was also shared from the handle @swati_gs, which reads, “Video from Sambhaji Nagar (earlier Aurangabad) where a girl wearing a burqa is being punished for hanging out with a “non-Muslim” by our religion molested.”
Conclusion:
The claim made by Hamid Al-Ali is misleading as the Muslim community members were involved in the harassment of the hijab-wearing woman as they were suspicious of her association with a non-Muslim man.
