A screenshot is making rounds on social media. It has a clip of a sensational news item that says that a Muslim husband named Sajid murdered his wife Juhi (a convert from Hinduism) and chopped her body into seven pieces. He then packed pieces in a bag and carton and threw them away at a secluded corner of Sartita Vihar locality in Delhi.
A verified user named Nitin Shukla shared two screenshots with a caption: “She has defied her parents to marry outside religion. Now, what we are seeing in the holy month of Ramzan!”
Nitin Shukla’s Twitter bio reveals that he is a speaker life-coach, analyst and journalist.
Other social media users also made similar claims.
Fact Check:
The DFRAC team probed the claim of “Murder in the month of Ramzan” and entered some keywords on Google. It discovered a news report of amarujala.com that was published on June 27, 2018 on its website. Its headline said: “Engineer soaked blood out of wife’s body before chopping it into pieces. His daughters kept crying seeing their dead mother.”
This murder case was covered by Aaj Tak (आजतक ) as well.
Conclusion:
It is evident from the DFRAC fact-check that the murder took place around 5 years ago and it didn’t take place during the month of Ramzan as Ramzan fell in May-June in 2018. Thus, the claim of social media users is totally fake.
