The National Executive meeting of the Samajwadi Party was held recently in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. During this, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav met West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee. This photo went viral on social media claiming that Mamata Banerjee made Akhilesh Yadav sit on a stool instead of giving him a chair.
Sharing this photo, a verified user named Divya Gaurav Tripathi wrote – “National President of Samajwadi Party @yadavakhilesh is in Kolkata to meet the National Executive of SP. For the 2024 elections, he is engaged in connecting the leaders of different states. What is the importance of Akhilesh for Mamta, understand this from the fact that he was made to sit on a “stool”. (English Translation)
While another user wrote – “Akhilesh Yadav, who teased Keshav Prasad Maurya by calling him a stool minister, was put on a stool by his alliance partner Mamata Banerjee… #stoolneta”
Apart from this, many other users have also shared this photo.
Fact Check:
To fact-check the viral photo, the DFRAC team reverse-searched the photo. Meanwhile, we found a tweet on the official Twitter handle of Mamata Banerjee’s party ‘All India Trinamool Congress.’ (@AITCofficial). In this tweet, pictures of the meeting of Akhilesh Yadav and other Samajwadi Party leaders with Mamata Banerjee are uploaded.
While looking at these pictures separately, it was revealed that Akhilesh Yadav was not sitting on a stool but on a chair. The handle of the chair can be seen on the backside of Akhilesh Yadav.
Conclusion:
It is clear from DFRAC’s investigation that the claim is fake as Akhilesh Yadav is not sitting on a stool but on a chair.
