An old video of an Earthquake in Florida is going viral with a misleading claim. Read- Fact Check

A video is going viral on social media sites. It can be seen that a Building is collapsing due to an earthquake. The news gets sparked after a 7.8  magnitude earthquake hit southern Turkey and was felt across Syria, Jordan, and Israel, among other neighboring countries.

By sharing this video a user caption:” Turkey #Turkey #amed #earthquake #Earthquake.”

Fact Check:

To know the reality of the viral video the team of DFRAC first converted the video into keyframes and afterward did the  reverse image search of those keyframes, the team found cnn had covered the report on June 24, 2021, with a headline stating- ” Search continues into the night with almost 100 people unaccounted for in deadly Florida building collapse.”

At the same time, we are sharing a collage of old tweets done by social media users on a building collapse in surfside, Florida in the year 2021.

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC AND several media reports that the viral video is of Florida in the year 2021 and it has nothing to do with the Turkey earthquake incident.  Therefore, the claim made by social media users is old and misleading.
