Fact Check:

To fact-check the viral claim on social media, the DFRAC team searched some keywords on Google. In this context, we have not received any recent statement from Farooq Abdullah. After this, using search tools on Google, Farooq Abdullah’s old statements were found.

We found a report published on the website of the Hindi newspaper “Amar Ujala”. The report was published on February 20, 2014. The report has been titled ‘I am not actually a Muslim but a Kashmiri Pandit’.

the report said, That Union minister Farooq Abdullah attended the release of a children’s book written in the Kashmiri language at the World Book Fair held at Pragati Maidan, “I am not a Muslim, I am actually a Kashmiri Saraswati Pandit, who turned from a Kashmiri Brahmin to a Muslim years ago. Kashmiri Muslims are actually the product of Kashmiri Pandits. Because of this, I still have the language of Kashmiri Pandit. ”

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that Farooq Abdullah’s statement is 9 years old. Therefore, the claim of social media users is wrong
