Did Manmohan Singh go to the office by taxi when he was prime minister? Read- Fact Check

A picture of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is getting viral on social media. In this picture, Manmohan Singh can be seen getting down from a taxi. Social media users are sharing this picture claiming that Manmohan Singh liked simplicity during his tenure as Prime Minister. 

Sharing this picture, a verified user named Sandeep Khasa captioned- “When Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister !”

At the same time, a verified user named Vaibhav Upadhyay has also shared this photo with the same claim.

Fact Check:

To know the reality of the viral picture the DFRAC team conducted a reverse image search. We found this picture posted by a journalist on Twitter on June 1, 2013. In 1997, Manmohan Singh arrived by taxi to attend the Congress Working Committee meeting.

Conclusion:

It is clear from the FACT check of DFRAC that the viral picture is not from Manmohan Singh during his tenure as Prime Minister. Manmohan Singh became prime minister in 2004. While the viral picture is taken in 1997 while going to the Congress Working Committee meeting. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is false.
